SERVICE · EGR OFF
EGR OFF software
Disable EGR valve operation and the related flow / position / temperature DTCs at the calibration level — for off-road and motorsport applications.
Typical symptoms / why workshops apply EGR OFF
- EGR valve fault MIL
- Intermittent power loss under load
- Rough idle, hunting
- Carbon-clogged EGR cooler
- EGR flow insufficient code
- Failed emissions test
What Softechpro V5 actually patches when you select EGR OFF
- Disables EGR position target (0% commanded).
- Disables EGR flow rate request.
- Decouples lambda correction from EGR feedback.
- Suppresses the DTC trigger logic that raises EGR codes.
- Optionally widens MAF/MAP plausibility range to avoid secondary DTCs.
- Auto-checksum recomputation on save.

5-step workflow
- Read out your ECU bin file via OBD or bench (KESS3, AutoTuner, MPPS, Trasdata, Flex, FRF flasher).
- Open Softechpro V5 and drop the .bin / .ori / .hex / .s19 / .frf onto the workspace. Softechpro auto-identifies the ECU family from the header signature.
- Select EGR OFF from the service tab.
- Hit Save patched .bin. The ECU-specific checksum is recomputed automatically.
- Flash the patched file back via your existing flasher. Reset adaptations via the OEM scan tool if required.
Legal notice
EGR removal is illegal on EU road-registered vehicles. Off-road, motorsport and export markets only.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to physically blank the EGR?
Recommended. A blanking plate (~€10) prevents exhaust soot from reaching the intake even with ECU side off. Some installs also delete the EGR cooler entirely.
Will EGR off increase power?
Marginal direct power gain. The bigger benefit is reliability — no more EGR carbon buildup, no more EGR cooler leaks, no more MIL at every MOT.
