Softechpro is a professional tool sold to professional workshops. This page explains what you can do with it, what you cannot, and what actually happens when a rule is broken. We have written it the way one technician would explain the rules to another: the reason first, the rule second. Nothing here is designed to catch you out — every limit described below is enforced by the software itself, and you can see all of them from inside your account.

1. What Softechpro Is For

Softechpro reads, identifies and modifies ECU calibration files for passenger cars and light commercial vans. It is built for diagnostic centres, chiptuning workshops and technicians who already know how to read and write an ECU with their own bench, boot or OBD tooling. It is not a consumer product, and it is not a substitute for that tooling — we work on the file you supply and give you back a file.

1.1 Legitimate professional use

You may use Softechpro to diagnose faults, read and decode DTCs, identify an unknown ECU or software version, recalculate checksums, and apply calibration changes to vehicles you own or that a customer has instructed you to work on. You may use it commercially — that is what it is sold for. You may keep the resulting files, archive them, and deliver them to your own customers as part of your service.

1.2 Emissions modifications and road use

Some of the modules in Softechpro alter emissions-related functions. Removing or disabling emissions equipment on a vehicle used on public roads is illegal in most of the European Union, in the United Kingdom, and under the U.S. Clean Air Act. We are not going to pretend otherwise.

These functions exist for motorsport vehicles, off-road and closed-course use, export markets with different regulations, bench and workshop testing, and diagnostic work where a fault has to be isolated. You are the professional in front of the vehicle: deciding whether a given modification is lawful for that vehicle in that country is your responsibility, not ours, and you carry the liability for it. We do not ask you to justify a job, and we do not accept responsibility for one.

2. One Licence, One Operator

Every licence is tied to a hardware fingerprint (HWID) derived from the machine it is activated on. This is the single most important rule on this page, because almost every other restriction follows from it.

2.1 How the binding works

The first time you log in from a computer, that machine's fingerprint is registered to your account. Current plans include one PC. If you try to activate on a second machine, the software refuses and tells you plainly that the maximum number of PCs for your licence has been reached — it does not silently fail or quietly disable features.

2.2 Changing computer

Moving your licence to a different physical computer is a one-time €55.99 HWID change. There is a 24-hour cooldown between transfers, so a licence cannot be walked around a workshop from machine to machine over the course of a day.

2.3 A PC already registered to another account

If you activate on a machine that is already bound to a different account, the activation is refused and you are told to contact support to unlink the old account. This is a stop, not a punishment — it is there because a shared workshop PC that has passed through two accounts is the most common way licences get tangled. Contact us and we sort it out. Nobody is banned for hitting this.

2.4 Do not share your credentials

Your login is yours. Do not give it to colleagues, do not post it, and do not use one paid account to serve several technicians working on different machines. If you have several technicians, you need several licences — that is the honest answer, and it is the same answer every serious tool vendor gives.

3. The Free Trial and Fair Use

We give you full access before you pay, precisely so you can test your own vehicles on your own bench and find out whether we cover them. We would rather you discover a coverage gap for free than ask for a refund afterwards. That trust only works if it is not farmed.

3.1 What the trial is

A new account gets a free 15-minute trial with full access — analyse, tune and download your tuned file, no card required. It is one trial per device. When the fifteen minutes are up, the software says so and points you at the plans. That is the whole mechanic: there is no hidden second allowance, and previewing what a given file would receive stays free afterwards.

3.2 Trial farming is licence abuse

Creating repeated accounts on the same machine to collect more free trials is abuse, and it is the one behaviour on this page we treat harshly. The hardware fingerprint is what makes it visible: a new email address on an already-known machine is not a new customer.

3.3 The fingerprint stays bound after a licence ends

When a licence ends — because you cancelled, because a payment failed, or because we closed it — the hardware fingerprint stays associated with your account. It is not released back into the pool. This is deliberate: it is what stops a cancelled subscription from being recycled into a fresh trial on the same bench. If you come back later as a paying customer on that machine, nothing is lost and nothing needs to be paid to re-bind it.

4. Daily Limits and Credits

Plans are metered per day, not per month, because that is how a workshop actually works: a steady flow of cars, not a burst. Depending on your plan, you get a daily allowance of files, plus a daily allowance of support tickets. The exact figures for each plan are published on the pricing table and shown inside the application — currently between 10 and 25 files per day. The counter resets at midnight.

4.1 What credits are for

Credits (€10.00 each) exist for the day you go over. If your daily allowance is exhausted and you have credits on the account, one credit covers one extra file and the software tells you how many you have left. Credits also pay for premium tuning services that sit outside the standard allowance. They do not expire at midnight — only the daily counter does.

4.2 Do not engineer your way around the meter

Time-limited and file-limited plans are enforced server-side, with a deliberate tolerance band so that a slow upload or a crashed session never costs you a file. Systematically pushing past that band — by tampering with the client, replaying requests, or running several sessions against one licence — triggers a temporary block until the following day and an email explaining exactly why. Repeat it and the account is closed.

5. Reverse Engineering, Cracking and Redistribution

5.1 What is forbidden

You may not decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the application; patch, emulate or otherwise defeat the licence check; redistribute the installer, a cracked build, or an extracted database; or resell, rent, sublicense or give away access to our servers. Our calibration catalogue and detection logic are the product — copying them out is theft of the thing you are paying us to maintain.

To be clear about how that is enforced: this is a licensing rule, not a scan of your computer. We do not police what else is installed on your PC and we do not inspect your other software. What we watch is our own side — activations, hardware changes, licence calls and server logs. That is where a cracked build or a shared licence becomes visible, and if we ever act on what we see there, you are told why by a person, not by a dialog box.

5.2 What is explicitly allowed

5.3 Automating the customer panel

Do not scrape, script or automate the web dashboard to pull files or coverage data in bulk, and do not wrap it in a service you sell on. If you need programmatic access, it exists as a product and it is described below. Use that instead — it is cheaper than getting your account closed, and it is supported.

6. Distributor and API Access

Workshops that resell tuning through their own website can license API access. It is a genuine reseller channel, and it has its own rules.

7. What Happens If a Rule Is Broken

We do not have a hair trigger, and we do not want to lose customers over a misunderstanding. Enforcement is graduated, and most of it is not enforcement at all — it is the software stopping an action and telling you why.

• A blocked action. Hitting a daily limit, a PC limit or a transfer cooldown simply stops that action, with a message explaining the limit. No penalty, no note on your account.
• A warning. For anything that looks like a first-time or accidental breach, we contact you. Most cases end here, and most turn out to be a shared workshop PC or a hardware change.
• A temporary block. Deliberately pushing past a metered limit blocks the account until the following day. Your data, files and credits are untouched.
• Account closure without refund. Reserved for deliberate and serious abuse: cracking or bypassing the licence check, redistributing the software, reselling access, or farming trial accounts. In these cases unused credits are forfeited and nothing already paid is returned.

If your account is restricted and you believe it is a mistake, write to us. We keep detailed logs of activations and hardware changes, which means we can usually prove a false trigger as easily as a real breach — and when the logs show we got it wrong, we reverse it and say so.

8. Reporting Misuse or a Pirated Copy

If you find a cracked build of Softechpro, a resold licence, someone distributing our catalogue, or a site passing our engine off as their own, tell us at support@softechpro-solutions.com. Piracy of a tool like this is not victimless: the catalogue is funded by licence revenue, and every cracked copy is coverage that does not get added next month.

Useful things to include, if you have them: the URL, forum thread or marketplace listing; a screenshot; the version or build name shown by the copy; and how you came across it. You do not need to investigate anything yourself — a link is enough. Reports are treated confidentially, and we will not name you to the party concerned.

The same address is the right place to report a Softechpro account you believe is being shared or resold, or to tell us that a licence of yours has been compromised. If your credentials have leaked, contact us immediately: we can revoke the active sessions on your account and re-bind it, and doing that early protects you from being held responsible for someone else's use.
