Coolant / Antifreeze Mix

Concentrate and water for a target antifreeze % - plus approximate freeze protection.

How it works

1

Enter capacity

Total cooling system volume in litres (workshop manual figure).

2

Pick protection

A higher concentrate % protects to a lower temperature, up to about 60%.

3

Get the mix

We show the litres of concentrate and water to add.

Frequently asked questions

What ratio of antifreeze to water should I use?

A 50/50 mix is the common all-round choice, protecting to roughly -37 C. In milder climates 33-40% is enough; never go above about 60% because more concentrate actually reduces cooling performance.

How much antifreeze for my system?

Multiply the system capacity by the target percentage for the concentrate, and the rest is water. The calculator does this for any capacity and target.

Can I use too much antifreeze?

Yes. Above ~60% concentrate the mixture cools worse and can actually freeze at a higher temperature, so stick within the recommended band.
