GM GDS2

OEM DiagnosticGeneral MotorsWindows + GM MDI/passthru

GDS2 (Global Diagnostic System 2) is General Motors' factory diagnostic application for Global-A and later electrical architecture vehicles, broadly 2010s-onward Chevrolet, GMC, Buick, Cadillac and Opel/Vauxhall models. It reads and clears DTCs, displays live data, runs actuator/output controls and special functions, and performs module diagnostics; ECU programming itself is handled by the companion SPS/SPS2 system rather than GDS2. It connects through a GM MDI/MDI2 interface or approved passthru and runs within GM's SI/TIS2Web and ACDelco TDS environment. Dealers and independent GM specialists use GDS2 for diagnostics on modern GM platforms where the legacy Tech2 cannot communicate. It requires a subscription for full access and a Java-based runtime for online sessions.

Where Softechpro fits

GDS2 handles GM on-car diagnostics while SPS2 flashes; Softechpro is a separate file-based layer, editing the extracted engine calibration for DPF/EGR/DTC-off and Stage tuning with automatic checksum correction.
