ECU Editor / Map Editor
An EDC15 Suite targets Bosch EDC15, the diesel engine ECU widely used from the late 1990s into the mid-2000s on VAG 1.9 TDI PD and SDI, Mercedes, Opel, and other diesels, built around the Siemens/Infineon C167 microcontroller. Tuners use it to locate and modify injection quantity, boost pressure, torque limiter, smoke and IQ-by-MAF, and EGR maps, apply Stage 1 tuning, and disable EGR where legally permitted, then recalculate EDC15's checksums so the ECU accepts the edited file. Reading and writing usually happens over OBD or on the bench depending on the exact EDC15 variant such as P, VM, C, or V. Because EDC15 is a mature, well-documented platform, map locations and definitions are extensively catalogued. The suite edits files while a separate flasher moves them in and out of the ECU.
Softechpro covers many EDC15 firmwares among its roughly 1,400, auto-applying EGR and DTC-off and Stage edits with automatic checksum correction; it edits the file while dedicated hardware handles the EDC15 read and write.
