Power & Boost
Control of the variable vanes inside a VGT/VNT diesel turbo.
Also known as: variable turbine geometry · variable geometry turbo · vgt · vnt · variable nozzle turbine · vtg actuator · vane control · variable vane turbo
VTG (Variable Turbine Geometry, also VGT/VNT) turbos use moveable vanes to change exhaust flow across the turbine, giving strong low-rpm boost and wide response. In tuning, the VTG/boost control maps are recalibrated to raise and stabilise boost safely, improve spool and eliminate the lag or over/under-boost that triggers limp mode. Correct VTG mapping is central to diesel Stage tuning and to fixing boost DTCs; it must respect the actuator and turbo limits to stay reliable.
Softechpro Solutions applies emissions/diagnostic modules (DPF, EGR, AdBlue, DTC off, swirl flaps) automatically and supports Stage power and character features via credits, correcting the checksum across ~1,400 firmwares — on Windows & macOS.
