Stage 1 is a software-only calibration for an otherwise standard car: injection, boost, ignition and torque maps are optimised for more power and torque and/or better economy, within safe factory-hardware limits. It's the most popular tune, needs no mechanical changes, and on turbo engines typically gives the biggest gain-per-euro. Delivered as a corrected, checksum-valid file.
