An E85/flex-fuel calibration adapts injection, ignition and (on flex setups) ethanol-content compensation so the engine runs safely on high-ethanol fuel, which resists knock and supports more timing and boost for extra power. It requires adequate fuelling hardware for the higher flow. A popular power route on turbo petrol engines where E85 is available.
