Stage 3 is a bespoke calibration for major hardware — hybrid or larger turbo, uprated fuelling, built engine — where maps are developed to the specific setup, usually with datalogging. It delivers the largest gains and demands the most supporting mods and care. This is custom, build-specific work rather than an off-the-shelf file.
