Gearbox/TCU tuning recalibrates the transmission controller (e.g. VAG DSG, ZF) for faster, firmer shifts, higher clutch-torque limits to match an engine remap, revised shift points and often launch control. It's separate from the engine ECU tune and essential when engine torque exceeds the stock gearbox clamp. Set to the clutch/gearbox limits for reliability.
