Data Logging & Analysis
VCM Scanner is the datalogging and diagnostics component of HP Tuners' VCM Suite. Using the MPVI2/MPVI3 interface, it streams live PIDs from the engine and transmission controllers, records high-resolution logs, graphs channels, and reads or clears diagnostic trouble codes. Tuners overlay logged data such as knock, air/fuel ratio, boost, timing and load against the calibration edited in VCM Editor to verify and refine a tune. It supports customizable dashboards, math channels, and histogram tables for volumetric-efficiency and MAF tuning, plus integration with external sensors and dyno data. It is primarily used on GM, Ford and FCA vehicles alongside VCM Editor and is a core logging tool in the North American domestic tuning workflow.
Softechpro reads diagnostic trouble codes and auto-applies DTC-off and emissions modules on European ECU firmware, overlapping only with VCM Scanner's diagnostics side; the two serve different vehicle bases and Softechpro does not stream live PIDs over the OBD bus.
