OEM Diagnostic
Star Diagnosis (SDS) is the umbrella name for the Mercedes-Benz factory diagnostic system — the combination of the Xentry/DAS software and a Star multiplexer, historically the C3 serial unit, then C4/C5 and SD Connect C6. It is the complete dealer toolchain for reading and clearing DTCs, guided troubleshooting, actuations, adaptations, SCN online coding and ECU flash programming across Mercedes cars, vans and trucks. Independent Mercedes specialists often refer to their whole setup as "Star Diagnosis." The software side has evolved from DAS to Xentry, while the hardware moved from the C3 multiplexer to SD Connect. Online functions such as SCN coding and programming require Mercedes server access. It remains the reference system for OEM-level Mercedes diagnostics and programming.
Star Diagnosis is the complete OEM read/write/coding chain for Mercedes; Softechpro complements it by editing the extracted engine calibration (DPF/EGR/AdBlue/DTC-off, Stage) and auto-correcting the checksum, not by replacing the OEM hardware.
