OEM Diagnostic
The PIWIS Tester is the physical Porsche dealer diagnostic unit that runs the PIWIS software and connects to the vehicle's OBD/DoIP interface. It exists in generations — PIWIS Tester II (Panasonic Toughbook-based) and the newer PIWIS Tester III — each pairing a ruggedized laptop or tablet with a Porsche communication interface. It reads and clears DTCs, performs guided diagnostics, actuations, module coding, adaptation and ECU flash programming across the Porsche range. Independent Porsche specialists acquire PIWIS Testers to gain dealer-level access their generic scanners lack. Newer Porsche models such as the 992 and Taycan require the later tester generation and online access for certain programming. The tester hardware and PIWIS software together form Porsche's equivalent of Mercedes Star Diagnosis or VAG ODIS.
The PIWIS Tester is the OEM hardware for reaching and reflashing Porsche ECUs; Softechpro works on the extracted engine file (DPF/EGR/DTC-off, Stage, checksum) and does not replace this tester or the flashing chain.
