J2534 Passthru Interface
Pass-Thru Pro is a SAE J2534 interface most associated with Ford/Rotunda service tooling, built by Drew Technologies and used to reprogram and configure Ford, Lincoln and Mercury control modules with Ford's OEM software such as IDS/FJDS. As a J2534 device it also works with other manufacturers' pass-thru applications and third-party flashing tools. It supports the CAN and legacy protocols needed for the vehicles it targets, and later revisions extended coverage for newer models. Independent shops use Pass-Thru Pro to run factory reprogramming without a dedicated dealer tool. Like all pass-thru hardware it provides the communication channel while the reflash data comes from the OEM or tuning application driving it.
Pass-Thru Pro carries the reprogramming session; Softechpro Solutions edits the calibration file with modules, Stage maps and checksum correction. It is complementary software that runs on the PC, not the interface itself.
