OEM Diagnostic
IDS (Integrated Diagnostic System) is Ford's factory dealer diagnostic and programming application, also historically used for Mazda. It performs guided diagnostics, reads/clears DTCs across all modules, shows live data (PIDs), runs self-tests and actuations, programs and configures modules including parameter reset (PMI), and flashes ECUs/PCMs. It connects via a Ford VCM II/VCM 3 interface or an approved J2534 passthru, and module reprogramming can also be done through Ford's web-based FDRS/FJDS for newer vehicles. Ford dealers and independents use IDS for PCM/TCM/body module diagnostics and programming across Ford and Lincoln, and legacy Mazda, models. Online access via Ford's technician subscription is required for as-built data and module flashing.
IDS handles Ford read/write, module configuration and PCM flashing; Softechpro is complementary and file-based, editing the extracted engine calibration for DPF/EGR/DTC-off and Stage tuning with automatic checksum correction.
