ECU Flash Tool
KESS, from Alientech, is an OBD-port ECU programmer used to read and write engine calibrations without removing the control unit from the vehicle. Driven by Alientech's K-Suite software, it identifies the ECU, backs up the original file, and flashes modified maps over the diagnostic connector on a wide range of cars, light commercials, trucks, bikes and tractors. It is one of the most established tools in the professional tuning market and is often paired with the bench/boot tool K-TAG for ECUs that cannot be accessed via OBD. Protocol coverage is licensed and expanded through software updates. KESS refers to the broader Alientech OBD line, later succeeded by KESS3.
KESS handles the in-car read and write over OBD; Softechpro Solutions processes the file it produces, auto-applying emissions and DTC-off modules and correcting the checksum. They occupy different steps of the workflow.
