"Siemens SID Tool" describes software used to read, write and tune the SID (Siemens Diesel) family of common-rail diesel engine controllers from Siemens VDO/Continental. SID variants such as SID201, SID206, SID803, SID803A, SID807 and SID807EVO are found in Ford, Volvo, PSA, Renault, Mercedes and VAG diesels, typically on Infineon Tricore or similar microcontrollers. Tuners extract the firmware via OBD, bench or boot access, then modify maps affecting injection, boost, torque and emissions-related functions before writing back with corrected checksums. Newer SID generations add security and checksum protections that must be respected. As a category term, this names the identification, read/write and calibration-editing workflow for SID diesel ECUs rather than one branded product.
