ECU Flash Tool
PCM Hammer is a free, open-source Windows application for reading and writing General Motors powertrain control modules, originally focused on the P01/P59 and related PCMs used on GM LS-engine trucks and cars, with expanding support for later controllers such as the E38. It communicates through a J2534 pass-thru interface, for example a Tactrix OpenPort or compatible device, to dump the full flash, write modified calibrations and recover PCMs. Popular in the LS-swap and GM tuning community, it pairs with editors and definition files to change fuel, spark, VE and other tables. Because it is community-maintained, coverage and features grow over time. PCM Hammer handles the read/write side; separate editors modify the actual tables.
PCM Hammer serves GM domestic PCMs, which sit outside Softechpro's core European Bosch/Continental coverage, so the two rarely overlap. Both, however, follow the same read-edit-write-checksum discipline where a valid checksum is required before flashing.
