Aftermarket Diagnostic Scanner
OBD Tool names the broad category of devices that plug into a vehicle's SAE J1962 OBD-II port to talk to onboard control modules. Typical OBD tools read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), show freeze-frame and live sensor data (PIDs), run emissions readiness monitors, and on capable units reach manufacturer-specific modules over CAN, ISO 9141, KWP2000 and J1850. They range from inexpensive ELM327 dongles to professional bidirectional scanners. DIY owners, workshops and tuners use them for first-line fault diagnosis before deeper ECU work. In a tuning context an OBD tool is usually the starting point, confirming which control units are present and whether fault codes are active before an ECU is read or modified.
Softechpro Solutions reads DTC definitions and switches off stored fault codes at the firmware level, complementing a shop's OBD tool by handling the ECU-file side after diagnosis. The OBD tool verifies which codes and modules are live before and after any file work.
