Standalone ECU / Engine Management
Microsquirt is a sealed, harness-ready member of the Megasquirt family of DIY/aftermarket engine management, tuned with TunerStudio MS from EFI Analytics — the de-facto Windows/Mac/Linux front-end for MS-based ECUs. Tuners use it to configure fuel and spark tables, set up sensors, run VE Analyze auto-tuning against a wideband, and log data (reviewed in MegaLogViewer). Microsquirt supports sequential or semi-sequential injection, distributor or coil-on-plug ignition, boost control and, on later firmware, basic drive-by-wire. It's popular for engine swaps, kit cars and budget turbo builds where the factory ECU is removed entirely. Communication is over USB/serial. It targets no specific OEM — it is a universal standalone that replaces the stock ECU.
Softechpro works the opposite side of the fence — reflashing and correcting factory OEM ECUs (DPF/EGR/AdBlue/DTC-off, Stage maps, checksums) rather than programming a standalone that replaces the stock ECU. A shop building swaps on Microsquirt still uses Softechpro for the many customer cars that keep their original ECU.
