BCM / Body / Gateway Tool
A Gateway Tool works with the central CAN gateway module that routes messages between a vehicle's electronic control units and often stores VIN, installation list and component-protection data. It reads and writes the gateway to code equipment/installation lists, correct or transfer VIN after a swap, adapt a replacement gateway, and support immobilizer/component-protection workflows on platforms where the gateway is part of the security chain. Work is done over OBD or on the bench depending on the module and manufacturer. Users are auto locksmiths, diagnostic technicians and module-repair specialists, commonly on VAG vehicles where the gateway holds the installation list. Because the gateway is central to network communication, accurate coding and correct VIN/component data are needed so all modules recognize each other and faults clear.
Softechpro does not code gateway modules or manage VIN/component protection, so it does not overlap with a Gateway Tool. It is used separately for engine-ECU DTC-off and emissions tuning with checksum correction.
