Standalone ECU / Engine Management
Emerald M3D is a UK engine-management maker, and the K6 is its well-known standalone ECU. The 'K6 Software' is the Windows tuning package used to configure and map it. Tuners set fuel and ignition tables, throttle or MAP load sensing, closed-loop lambda, cold-start and idle strategies, and — on supported builds — launch control and traction, then datalog for refinement. The K6 is popular on classic and modern British performance builds, Caterham/Westfield kit cars, and individual-throttle-body engine conversions, and Emerald offers plug-in looms for many applications. The brand is known for strong UK-based tuner support. As with all standalones, the K6 and its software replace the factory ECU rather than reflashing it.
The K6 is a standalone that replaces the OEM ECU on kit-car and ITB builds; Softechpro instead reflashes factory firmware with automated emissions/DTC modules and checksum correction. They serve different vehicles and complement one another in a shop.
