ECU Editor / Map Editor
EcuFlash is a free, open-source ECU reflashing and calibration-editing application developed by Tactrix to work with the OpenPort 2.0 J2534 cable. It is most widely used on Subaru, Mitsubishi (including the Lancer Evolution) and some Nissan platforms, reading and writing factory ROMs and letting tuners edit fuel, ignition, boost and limiter tables through community-maintained XML 'definition' files that map addresses to human-readable tables. It recalculates ROM checksums for supported ECUs on write. EcuFlash is commonly paired with RomRaider or EvoScan for datalogging and tune verification. Hobbyists and professional tuners rely on it because the definition format is open and covers a broad range of Denso and Mitsubishi ECUs. It runs on Windows and requires the OpenPort hardware for the actual read and write to the vehicle.
Softechpro works on the ROM after EcuFlash reads it, auto-applying DTC-off (and, on diesel platforms, DPF/EGR) edits and re-correcting the checksum for supported firmwares. EcuFlash and its OpenPort hardware still perform the actual read and write.
