A Bosch MEDC17 Tool targets the MEDC17 gasoline Motronic direct-injection ECU family, an Infineon TriCore-based controller used on modern turbocharged GDI engines, including various Hyundai/Kia and other manufacturers' petrol applications. Tuners use it to identify the MEDC17 sub-variant, locate boost and wastegate, ignition, lambda, load, and torque-limiter maps, apply Stage tuning and hardware-upgrade calibration, and clear DTCs where appropriate, then recalculate MEDC17's multi-region checksums so the edited file is accepted. Like other TriCore Bosch units, it typically has checksum and read protection, so reading and writing is done over OBD, bench, or boot mode depending on the variant. The tool performs calibration editing while dedicated flash or bench hardware handles the secured ECU read and write.
