A Bosch EDC17 Tool targets the EDC17 diesel ECU family, the most widespread modern diesel controller, used across VAG, BMW, Mercedes, PSA, Ford, Hyundai/Kia, and many others from the late 2000s onward and built on Infineon TriCore microcontrollers. It identifies the specific EDC17 sub-variant such as C46, C54, C64, CP14, CP20, or CP44, maps rail pressure, boost, injection, torque, EGR, DPF, and SCR/AdBlue tables, applies Stage tuning, and performs DPF/EGR/AdBlue/DTC edits where legal, then recalculates EDC17's multiple checksum regions. Because these ECUs use read-out protection and checksum guards, reading and writing is done over OBD, bench, or boot/BSL depending on the variant. The tool edits the calibration while separate flash or bench hardware performs the secured read and write.
