OEM Diagnostic
INPA (Interpreter for Procedures) is BMW's EDIABAS-based diagnostic application, widely used by enthusiasts and independent BMW specialists to read live data and fault information from E-series (and some early F-series) modules. Connecting through a K+DCAN cable, it displays ECU status screens, reads and clears DTCs, shows live sensor values and adaptation data, and runs activations for many systems — engine (DME/DDE), transmission, ABS/DSC, airbag, body, and more. It is the classic go-to for detailed BMW diagnostics where generic OBD tools cannot reach BMW-specific data. INPA is part of the same Standard Tools package as NCS Expert (coding), WinKFP (flashing), and Tool32 (job runner). Its script-driven screens require the correct SGBD/.IPO files, but it remains a staple of the BMW DIY toolchain.
INPA reads BMW-specific diagnostics and live data; Softechpro Solutions complements it on the file side, applying DPF/EGR/DTC-off modules and Stage tuning with checksum correction to the ECU image after diagnosis with a tool like INPA.
