TPROT — (Tuning Protection)
Definition
TPROT (versions 1-7) is Bosch's anti-tampering mechanism on EDC17/MED17/MG1/MD1. Adds a security access routine (UDS service 0x27) plus signed integrity checks. v1-v5 are well-understood; v6/v7 use HMAC-SHA1 and require updated bypass routines.
Why workshops care
Modern flashers (KESS3, AutoTuner, MPPS V22) include TPROT bypass routines built-in for v1-v5. v6/v7 on the latest MG1/MD1 ECUs sometimes need bench-mode access. Softechpro identifies the TPROT version automatically and applies the correct flow.
