TCM — nsmission Control Module
Definition
The dedicated ECU that controls an automatic or dual-clutch transmission — shift points, clutch slip, hydraulic line pressure, torque converter lockup. Often shares a CAN bus with the engine ECU for torque coordination.
Why workshops care
DSG / ZF 8HP / Mercedes 722.9 tuning happens at the TCM, not the engine ECU. Softechpro V5 supports TCM calibration on common platforms (DSG, ZF 8HP, 6L80, 722.9).
