A2L — (ASAP2 calibration description)

Definition

A2L is the ASAP2 standard XML file that describes ECU calibration: where in flash each map lives, axis definitions, data types, scaling, units. An A2L paired with a .bin lets calibration tools edit named maps instead of raw hex.

Why workshops care

A2L is the unlock-key for editable maps. Workshops without A2Ls have to identify maps visually from raw hex (slow, error-prone). Tools like WinOLS use Damos packages which are A2L-derived databases.
