Abrites VAG Commander is the Volkswagen Group software package that runs on the Abrites AVDI interface. It is capable of all-keys-lost key learning, immo-module adaptation, component-protection handling, dashboard operations and special functions across multiple immobilizer generations, including newer MQB platforms depending on licensing. ECU/immo specialists and locksmiths use it for complex VAG jobs beyond the reach of generic tools. It requires the AVDI hardware, Windows and the relevant Abrites software licenses. It should not be confused with the generically named 'VAG Commander' tools sold by other vendors.
VAG EEPROM Programmer is a well-known lightweight Windows utility used to read and write EEPROM memory in Volkswagen Group immobilizer and instrument-cluster components. It is popular for extracting immobilizer data (PIN/SKC) and mileage information from older VDO and Magneti Marelli dashboards and immo boxes, often using an inexpensive OBD/serial interface or a direct chip connection. Locksmiths and hobbyists use it for key-programming preparation, immo-off preparation and cluster repair on Immo generations up to around Immo3/early Immo4. Because it operates at the EEPROM level, it is typically one step in a larger workflow that includes decoding the dump and learning keys. It targets specific cluster/immo chips rather than modern secured gateways, so coverage is limited on newer vehicles.
