TUNING

Boost — pressure

Definition

The above-atmospheric pressure produced by a turbocharger or supercharger, measured in bar (gauge) or psi. Stock turbos typically peak at 0.8-1.4 bar (12-20 psi).

Why workshops care

Boost is the single biggest power lever on a turbo engine. Stage 1 software-only tunes add 0.1-0.3 bar over stock. Stage 3 hardware builds can run 2.0+ bar with the matching fuel system + intercooler.
