On Jaguar vehicles, P1229 is logged when the ECU detects a fault in the throttle: “Electronic Throttle Control Circuit”. P1229 is a manufacturer-specific Jaguar code (the "1" after the letter marks an OEM-defined code), so its meaning applies to Jaguar and may differ on other makes.
