ODIS Engineering (Offboard Diagnostic Information System, Engineering) is Volkswagen Group's factory-level diagnostic and development software, a more capable counterpart to ODIS Service. ODIS Service is Volkswagen Group's official dealer-level diagnostic application used in franchised Audi, VW, SEAT and Skoda workshops. It performs guided fault finding, reads and clears diagnostic trouble codes across all control modules, runs guided functions, service resets and adaptations, and handles software updates and flashing through the manufacturer's online systems (SVM). It connects through approved VAS diagnostic interfaces or J2534/DoIP hardware. Dealer technicians rely on ODIS Service for warranty-compliant diagnostics and OEM software deployment. It is Windows-based and typically requires manufacturer online credentials for coding and flashing operations. Compared with ODIS Engineering, the Service version is oriented to standard repair procedures rather than development-level access.
