Autel MaxiSys vs Scanmatik

Autel MaxiSys

Aftermarket Diagnostic Scanner
Vendor: Autel
Platform: Android tablet + VCI

Autel MaxiSys is a widely used range of Android-based professional diagnostic tablets, from the MS906 up to the flagship Ultra. Paired with a Bluetooth or wired VCI, it performs full-system diagnostics — DTC read/clear, live data, bi-directional controls, ECU coding and adaptations — across most makes, plus service resets such as oil, EPB, SAS, DPF, TPMS and, on some models, immobiliser functions. Higher models add J2534 pass-thru ECU programming, topology module mapping and integrated scope and inspection cameras. General repair shops and diagnostic technicians use MaxiSys as an all-round OE-level scan platform. Autel provides subscription software updates that expand coverage and add newer coding and programming functions.

Scanmatik

Aftermarket Diagnostic Scanner
Vendor: Scanmatik
Platform: Windows + hardware interface

Scanmatik (Scanmatik 2 / SM2 Pro) is a diagnostic and ECU programming interface used by independent workshops. It supports multi-brand diagnostics, J2534 passthrough for factory reprogramming, and direct ECU read/write for chip tuning through its SMArt software. The device speaks the common in-vehicle protocols including CAN, K-line/ISO9141, KWP2000 and J1850, and offers bench and boot connections for a range of Bosch, Siemens and Delphi ECUs. Technicians use it for fault-code diagnosis, module coding, and reading/writing calibration memory. Its combination of dealer-style diagnostics with tuning read modes in a single relatively low-cost box made it popular in the DIY and small-shop tuning scene. Coverage depends on the installed software version.
