Send mode 09 with PID 02 over OBD-II. The ECU returns 17 data byte(s), decoded with HEX_to_ASCII (A, B, C, D are the returned bytes in order). The result is “Vehicle identification number (VIN)”. This is standard SAE J1979 data supported by most OBD-II scan tools and loggers.
