Tool comparison
MoTeC i2 Pro is the advanced tier of MoTeC's i2 data-analysis software, used to review logged data from MoTeC ECUs, loggers and dashes. It offers powerful tools for motorsport data analysis, including time and distance variance, lap overlays, extensive math channels, GPS track mapping, custom worksheets and detailed component analysis, to help engineers and tuners optimize engine calibration, vehicle dynamics and driver performance. i2 Pro adds capabilities beyond the free i2 Standard, including more complex math, expressions and analysis workflows favored by professional race teams. It reads MoTeC's log formats and integrates with the wider MoTeC ecosystem, making it a core tool for turning telemetry into faster, more reliable setups and tunes across an entire race weekend.
VCM Scanner is the datalogging and diagnostics component of HP Tuners' VCM Suite. Connected through an MPVI2/MPVI3 interface, it streams live OEM parameters and wideband inputs, records channels for tune validation, graphs and overlays logs, and reads and clears diagnostic trouble codes. Tuners use it to watch knock retard, fuel trims, boost, air/fuel ratio, and transmission behavior while dialing in a calibration edited in VCM Editor. It supports high-speed CAN logging and custom math channels, and can integrate external inputs such as EGT and wideband controllers. VCM Scanner is standard equipment in North American performance shops working on GM, Ford, and Dodge platforms, and is often left connected during dyno pulls and road tuning to capture data for revisions.
MoTeC i2 Pro (Data Logging & Analysis, MoTeC) and HP Tuners VCM Scanner (Data Logging & Analysis, HP Tuners) compete in the same space, so the choice comes down to coverage, workflow and price for your specific ECUs.
