Haltech ECU Manager (ECUMgr) is the Windows calibration software for Haltech's Platinum and Sport series standalone engine management systems, including Platinum Sport and Pro Plug-in ECUs. It provides table-based tuning of fuel, ignition, boost and idle, plus motorsport features, sensor calibration, live tuning and datalogging over USB. It was widely used across popular Japanese and European swaps such as RB, 2JZ, SR and LS engines on Platinum Sport 1000/2000 and Pro Plug-in units. While superseded by newer Elite (ESP) and Nexus (NSP) software on current hardware, ECU Manager remains in service for the large installed base of Platinum-era units and is still referenced in many existing vehicle calibrations, so tuners maintaining older builds continue to rely on it.
The ECUMaster EMU Classic is the original EMU standalone ECU, a low-cost 35-pin controller tuned through ECUMaster's free EMU Windows software. It offers sequential or semi-sequential fuel and ignition, boost control, basic motorsport strategies, wideband integration and internal logging, making it a long-standing budget choice for turbocharged four-cylinder swaps and entry-level race cars. While later superseded by the more capable EMU Black, the Classic retains a large installed base and shares the familiar EMU tuning workflow of table-based fuel and ignition maps. It remains a practical option for simpler builds where the Black's extra I/O and processing are unnecessary, and it integrates with ECUMaster's wideband and CAN accessories, giving budget-focused tuners a proven, well-documented platform.
Haltech ECU Manager (Standalone ECU / Engine Management, Haltech) and ECUMaster EMU Classic (Standalone ECU / Engine Management, ECUMaster) compete in the same space, so the choice comes down to coverage, workflow and price for your specific ECUs.
